Dear Veritas World Junior Organizers,
  

I have a question regarding Veritas World Junior.  We know the 2012 Veritas World Junior will be held the same week as the US Junior Amateur.  I don't know if Veritas will refund the entry fee like AJGA does if a Junior qualifies for the US Junior Amateur and chooses to play that instead.  Do you have an answer?

Thank you for your inquiry.

A few weeks ago this question came up and Veritas revised the withdrawal policy to provide a 110% refund if a player registered in Veritas qualifies and goes on to compete in the US Junior Amateur.

Veritas is 110% in support of any player making that decision.  The refund will be processed upon confirmation that the withdrawing player actually competed in the US Junior Amateur.

We will also make a notation on the Veritas website of support for any players that has this circumstance actually happen.

I appreciate the notice of the Veritas October 1st "open registry date" and anticipate that we will advise our Callaway Junior World Qualifying players for Canada that they will have guaranteed spots.

As I also operate the Optimist International qualifying for the Pacific Northwest in conjunction with the CJGA, I understand similar spots are available for those qualifiers too.

Your demonstrated commitement to Junior Golf is so very refreshing to see and we are behind you 100% and will make every effort to ensure Canada is very well represented at the first "World Junior Golf Festival!"  We look forward to continued conversations and action very soon.

By the World Cup in San Diego I believe you mean Callaway Junior World.  We have verified your son's participation in the Callaway Junior World and he, like all players in the 2011 and 2012 CJW are exempt into Veritas World Junior.

We look forward to seeing your family at Opening Ceremonies on July 14, 2012.  Veritas World Junior Registration begins September 1, 2011.  You will be receiving an access code to register shortly once complete testing of registration software is completed.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Since 2012 will be the Inaugural year of Veritas World Junior, qualifying and entry will be less restrictive and rely to a greater degree on At Large applicants.  Over time Veritas World Junior will establish strong relationships with reputable Junior Golf organizers around the world and more players will have to pass through local qualifying to gain entry.

The rationale for this is twofold.  First, large international events like Veritas World Junior create 'value' across the world by way of granting exemptions which reputable tournament organizers use to run events and attract players from which they fairly profit from.  These local events often would not exist but for the desire of players to enter the bigger international events.

Secondly, the job of fairly identifying qualified players is best achieved by those reputable organizations that interact with their local players on a frequent basis.

Until such time as a reputable tournament orgnaizer is identified for a particular area, the At Large opportunity will remain an important aspect for building a qualified field of players to support Veritas World Junior.  However, the At Large opportunity for a particular area could be abruptly lost without notice as reputable tournament organizers are identified.  Any At Large application received beforehand would be honored and fairly evaluated.

I should advise you that discussions with tournament organizers globally are currently in process.

You should also be aware that the first 1,563 entries that compete in the 2012 Veritas World Junior are granted automatic exemption into the 2013 Veritas World Junior and their corresponding 2013 entry fees will be reduced by 50%.

Dear Veritas World Junior Organizers,

I was reading the correspondence in which you stated that Veritas World Junior will never collide with the CJW, but the Veritas World Junior dates DO collide with the Taylormade World Masters held in Las Vegas in 2012.

We participated this year at Taylormade World Masters and would like to return next year but also want to play in Veritas World Junior.  As you can see it looks like we have to choose where to play rather than play both events which we would like to do.  Can you please help?

Dear Mr. Hernandez,

Unfortunately, the TWM and Veritas World Junior look to be scheduled on the same dates for now.  The reason behind that date for both tournaments is because the CJW is the week prior and many of the best players in the world are in SoCal already.

Having an event right after CJW is beneficial for offering those players that travel so far another event to participate in.

TWM and Veritas World Junior have had long discussions about date selection and it is our strong feeling that moving to a different date would be detrimental to the potential of Veritas World Junior.

On the other hand, if TWM moved one week later to the week after Veritas World Junior, we feel just as strongly that TWM would be able to attract more players from the significantly larger field of Veritas World Junior compared to DJW field of 1,100 players.

Veritas World Junior expects to attract a field of 3,944 players in 2012 and then grow to approximately 5,500 players in a few years.  If there is still demand from quality players beyond that number, Veritas World Junior will introduce 1/2 age increments and grow to 11,000 players.

We think there is significant untapped potential in Junior Golf that will only grow with the introduction of a tournament the size and scope of Veritas World Junior.

Our sincere hope is that TWM can simply slide a week later and Veritas World Junior will offer its considerable database of players to recommend that event and increase participation.

I should mention that the primary objectives of Veritas World Junior are: 1) to grow the number of Junior Golfers and 2) to grow the number of girls competing in Junior Golf.

I sincerely hope we see your family at the Inaugural Opening Ceremonies for Veritas World Junior on July 14, 2012.

By the way,  If your daughter will be 18 next year, Veritas World Junior will offer her an unmatched experience.  Both the boys and girls 18 yr divisions will be competing at the Pacific Palms Resort.  For five days, approximately 320 18 yr old boys and girls will be golfing, swimming, eating, playing tennis and socializing together in a "Junior Golf Campus".

It will be unforgettable experience for the lucky 18 yr olds that attend.  Soon we will be making announcements about special events taking place there also.

There are a list of qualifying tournaments that will give automatic exemption into Veritas World Junior listed on the website.

If your Daughter does not fall into one of those categories you can submit an At Large application now and she will be considered for acceptance.

For the Inaugural event in 2012, qualifying will be less stringent as the priority will be to fill the tournament to capacity of 3,944 players across all divisions.  Over time qualifying criteria will become more focused on allocations to various reputable junior golf organizations around the world.

One final thing I should mention.  If your Daughter is playing in the 18 yr old division, you should make your reservations at the Pacific Palms Resort as soon as possible after registering.  Both the Boys 18 and the Girls 18 yr divisions are scheduled at Pacific Palms and there are not enough rooms to house everyone that will be playing.  Staying onsite at Pacific Palms will enhance the experience substantially because we expect the entire hotel to be sold out to Veritas World Junior families.

The Veritas World Junior will NEVER collide with the Callaway Junior World.

While CJW has not publically released there dates next year we have been informed the tournament will be the week prior to 2012 Veritas World Junior.  The program for 2012 Veritas World Junior and every year thereafter will always begin on the Saturday after the CJW concludes.

The objective of the Veritas World Junior is to offer as many qualified juniors as possible the opportunity to participate in a global golf event. There are plans to grow the Veritas World Junior to over 5,500 players in the next few years.

Registration for Veritas World Junior begins September 1, 2011.  That early date was chosen to afford parents more time to make travel arrangements at lower prices.
